New meeting location

Our long time meeting place, El Mariachi, has closed.
It wasn't a rumor this time.
We have found a new place a little bit (maybe a quarter mile) north.
It is the Peacock Chinese Restaurant.

Lions are busy in Anderson this week...

A warehouse for food distribution has been set up on Hirsch Court at Ox Yoke Road (near the Beacon Station).
Literally tons of food are available for those afflicted by the Clover Fire.
As you can see from the pictures it is a joint effort by the Salvation Army and at least eight Lions Clubs in the area.

Much more food, and more volunteers, arrived after these photos were taken.
These photos were stolen from certifiedskip.blogspot.com

Clover Fire relief

It was announced this morning that the Clover Fire is 100% contained.

This came up at the meeting last night

A couple of the members (okay... the Club President and the Club Secretary/Treasurer) are on the board of directors of the Senior Center.
They have tickets for the event.
A couple of other members expressed interest in attending.
So here's what the flyer looks like.

What is so great about this?
The senior center is entirely self-supporting, operating entirely on funds they raise in the community.
It receives no government funding, although the Senior Nutrition Program pays to use the facility to serve meals to seniors.

Another project

Tomorrow is the Annual Installation of Officers for the club.
But, more importantly, it is also the final day of the Diabetes Camp at Camp McCumber.
We will be there in full force to clean showers, cabins, and restrooms so the camps that follow have clean facilities.

...and a good time was had by all

Some may have expected the annual egg hunt to be cancelled because of the weather.
Others, who know the Lions, understand there is always an alternative plan.
Everyone stayed dry and all of the eggs were distributed, just not in a conventional manner.
This probably the only time we have ever had an entire egg hunt in two photos.
One member hid the eggs in the trunk of his car.

Then everyone stayed dry under the canopy...

...as the participants did a drive-thru, took the eggs home and had their own hunt.

The following photos are purely for entertainment.

Ride!!!

the RIDE

The Anderson Century is put on by the Enterprise and Anderson Lions Clubs and held in Anderson, California. We attract riders from California, Nevada & Oregon. This ride offers something for every level of cyclist, from the family who wants to get out and ride to the hardcore cyclist looking for their next Century.

This ride is a Lions Club fundraiser supporting the many community needs in our area. There is HAM radio communication and riders are supported by SAGs. There are 6 well stocked Rest Stops along the route.
